Whatcom Mental Health

Sharing resources and making connections

As of 2025 The Whatcom Mental Health newsletter is no longer in operation.

Here are two local resources available that in some ways replicate what the newsletter offered.  I hope these will facilitate your continued connections with the mental health community and Whatcom County mental health resources.

All the best,

Anji Citron

1- Resource website run by the Opportunity Council

I’m Drew Whatley, lead resource data specialist with Opportunity Council, and I want to make sure that you know about whatcomresource.org and the Whatcom Resource Information Collaborative (WRIC). These can act as tools to get program information out in front of clients and other providers, as well as help you find resources for your clients!

WhatcomResources.org is a directory of social services accessible by Whatcom County residents, and is governed by the WRIC, which is a community organization open to all. Through the directory, we list over 1,000 services that we verify and update at least every 6 months. We also host a community populated event calendar for health and human service oriented events and trainings. You can learn more about the overall project and see our governing documents at our About Us page here.

Aside from using whatcomresources.org to find services, you can also suggest your own. Just use the suggestions page here to suggest a resource or organization that you think should be included on the site. We do have inclusion guidelines available on the same page if you’re not sure what we include (and I respond to just about every suggestion if there’s an issue). You can also put events or classes on the WRIC calendar here.

We want to be as thorough and accurate as possible as possible, so don’t hesitate to reach out about adding new services, editing things that may have become outdated, or if you have any questions. You can reach me at drew_whatley@oppco.org. We’re also always open to having more people take part in WRIC, so if you want to get more involved I’d be happy to chat.

2- Mental health listserv moderated by a local therapist, Daniel Diamond, called "Greater Bellingham Mental Health Network" listserv.

I'm Daniel Diamond, a therapist in private practice in Bellingham, and I've created a listserv that we can use to communicate with each other. The Greater Bellingham Mental Health Network (gbmhn) is an email group for local therapists, psychiatrists, counselors, and other mental health workers to spread the word about their practices, seek referrals, advertise events, get advice, remind each other about quarterly taxes, etc. For any questions, or to join, please email diamondmentalhealth@gmail.com or go to https://groups.google.com/g/gbmhn and click Contact Owners and Managers.
